About the DS3800DCMB
The GE Printed Circuit Board DS3800DCMB features 1 40-pin connector and multiple erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) modules. It also is populated with 4 indicator LEDs, 7 jumpers, and 1 20-pin connector.
The EPROM modules are populated on the board to store the firmware and other code to perform the normal processing functions. When the original board from the factory arrives at your site the EPROM modules include a basic set of code that you can configure for the exact requirements of the site. The configured code instructs the drive to perform the steps you require. To configure the code there are 2 methods available for editing. One is to use the control panel on the drive to edit the configuration file. The control panel has keys that enable the operator to make small edits of the file. The control panel uses a menu of selections as the user interface. The menu selections enable the user to access the various sections of the configuration file.
The most common method to edit the configuration file is to download the file to a laptop or other device. The download is accomplished through a serial cable connected to the laptop serial port. The other end is connected to a serial port on the drive. You can also load a full function editing program on the laptop. When the editing is complete, upload the file back to the drive using an upload function available from the drive control panel.
