It also is populated with terminals for attaching components, such as resistors or capacitors. The GE Div Multi Auxiliary Board DS3800DDMA1A1B serves as daughter card that adds capacity or functionality to another board in the drive.

The trimmer adjuster enables a servicer or installer to calibrate the board to function exactly as needed for use in the drive. A small flat-blade screwdriver is required to adjust the trimmer resistor. The trimmer adjuster is referred to as a trimpot. The technician uses a tester to gauge the signal in the circuit and adjusts the trimpot for the proper signal strength.

Another way to change the processing of the board is to add and replace components that populate the terminals. The terminals are designed for a technician to add components such as resistors and capacitors. Only a qualified technician should attempt to add or replace components in the terminals. To add a component, loosen the screws on top of both terminals that you plan to add a component between. Insert the lead wires in the terminals and tighten the screws.
