About the DS3800DEPB1A1A
The GE Excitation Power Board DS3800DEPB1A1A features 1 20-pin ribbon cable and 5 10-pin connectors. The GE LCI Exciter Control Board DS3800DECA1B1B1A1A also is populated with 4 terminals for adding components, and 2 trimmer resistors.
The 20-pin ribbon cable is not removable from the board. Instead, it is permanently attached to the board and serves as the main connection to the drive. It is 6-inches in length and is designed to attach to a connector situated in the interior of the drive. Command signals are carried in the 20 separate strands of wire. Some of the signals are received by the board while others are sent from the board to other boards and devices.
There are several steps you must take to protect the 20-pin ribbon cable when you remove the board from the drive. First, disconnect any of the 10-pin cables and move them temporarily out of the way. Then, grasp the 20-pin connector with one hand and gently unplug it. Use one hand to remove the 4 screws that secure the board in the rack. Use your other hand to hold the board in place. When all the screws are removed, remove the board from the drive. The 20-pin ribbon cable can be damaged if you hold the board and tug the board to disconnect the ribbon cable.
The board is 6-inches in length and 2-inch in height and the interior of the drive is equipped with a location specifically designed for installation of the board.
