The GE Microprocessor Board DS3800DMPC1G1E features 1 programmable timer module (TPM). The GE Microprocessor Board DS3800DMPC1G1E also is populated with 1 34-pin ribbon cable, 1 50-pin ribbon cable, and 3 jumpers.

The programmable timer module employs 3 counters to generate system interrupts and output signals. The TPM is controlled by software. The software is located on multiple erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) modules. The software is comprised of firmware and machine code. Later versions of the firmware and code might be available. The later versions will include fixes to problems and other improvements that will improve the operation of the TPM. You can download the newer code to a laptop or other device. Once it resides on the laptop, connect a serial cable between the drive and laptop to download it to the drive. The serial cable must be less than 6 feet in length and it must have the connectors at both ends to match the serial ports on the laptop and the drive.

The board is populated with multiple capacitors that have an ID that begins with the letter C. When you plan to remove the board for replacement or repair, you must remove all power from the drive. Only then can you touch the board, remove the cables, and disconnect the ribbon cables. One important step is to wait 30 seconds after power is removed from the drive before you touch anything inside the drive. This is because the capacitors store voltage and the current exits the capacitors after 30 seconds.
