About the DS3800DMPK
The GE General Regulator Board DS3800DMPK features 14 erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) modules. The GE General Regulator Board DS3800DMPK also is populated with 2 34-pin ribbon cables, 2 single-pin connectors, and 17 jumpers.
The GE General Regulator Board DS3800DMPK is populated with the EPROM modules that contain the firmware and other code that the microprocessors and other components use throughout the drive to operate. The board is connected to the drive through the 2 34-pin ribbon cables. The ribbon cables are both attached to the board and cannot be removed. The ribbon cables are 7-inches in length and attach to connectors dedicated to the board. The 34-pin connectors are close to the board in the interior of the drive.
JA is the ID assigned to 1 34-pin ribbon cable. The ID is printed on the top layer of the board. JD is the ID assigned to the other 34-pin ribbon cable. When you plug the ribbon cables into the connectors in the drive, make sure you attach them to the proper connectors. The drive is designed so that the ribbon cables do not cross to plug into the right connectors.
When you remove the board to replace it because of a problem, once power is removed from the drive, unplug the 2 34-pin ribbon cables. Hold the cables by the connector at the end of the ribbon cable and gently unplug it. The procedure is designed to avoid unscrewing the board and tugging the ribbon cable out of the connector. This might damage the ribbon cable.
