About the DS3800DOAA
The GE Power Regulator Board DS3800DOAA features 6 trimmer resistors and 29 single-pin connectors. The GE Power Regulator Board DS3800DOAA also is populated with 20 terminals for attaching components.
The 29 single-pin connectors enable the installer to connect cables that transmit signals from the board to other boards in the drive. Other cables enable the board to receive signals from other boards in the drive. The board receives signals and processes the information before sending it on to other boards for further processing. In this manner, the signals are processed by multiple boards.
The 29 single-pin cables create some issues to consider when you install the board in the drive. The potential exists for a maximum of 29 single cables to be connected to the board. This many cables can block cool air from flowing through the interior of the drive. This can cause the temperature in the interior of the drive to rise above a predetermined threshold and automatically shutdown the drive.
Use good cable routing practices to prevent heat from building up. First, bundle the cables together and route them along the side of the drive interior. Use a port on the top of the drive to route the cables out of the drive. It is also important to separate the power cables and the signal cables. The power cables generate signals that can interfere with the signal cables. This degrades the signals and leads to processing errors. The more voltage carried in the power cables, the farther apart the power and signal cables must be.
