Handle the connector gently because the 20 fine strands of wire that comprise the cable are easy to damage. Align it with the connector in the drive and press it into the connector. Inspect it for space between the connectors. If you see open space, press the two connectors together to ensure the connectors are fully seated.

When you replace the board, first disconnect the ribbon cable before you remove the board. It is important to prevent the ribbon cable from being forcefully tugged. Use 1 hand to pull the ribbon cable connector from the matching connector in the interior of the drive. Then, remove the GE Generator Regulator Board DS3800DXRA1C1C from the drive.
