About the DS3800HCIB
The GE Turbine Control Board DS3800HCIB features a modular connector for attachment to a drive and retention levers to hold the board in the drive. The GE Turbine Control Board DS3800HCIB also is populated with 1 jumper, and 1 amber indicator LED. The board also has 1 20-pin connector, 1 50-pin connector, and multiple capacitors.
The capacitors on the GE Turbine Control Board DS3800HCIB have IDs that are visible on the surface of the board. They have a prefix of the letter C. The prefix is followed by a numerical value that is unique for each capacitor. C16, C19, and C28 are some of the IDs associated with the capacitors. The capacitors require some special consideration when the board is removed from the drive. The capacitors are designed to store high-voltages during normal processing. When needed, they also release the high-voltage current and this cycle of storing and releasing current is performed without hazard to the operator or other in the surrounding area. However, when the board is removed from the drive, the capacitors might still have stored some high-voltage current. This exposes the technician or others who touch the board to the risk of shock or electric burn.
However, the capacitors will release the current after power is removed from the drive in 30 seconds. In other words, the risk to the technician is eliminated if you wait 30 seconds before touching the board. After 30 seconds, open the retention levers and carefully remove the board.
