The GE Universal Communications Processor Board DS3800HCMB1C1B is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Universal Communications Processor Board DS3800HCMB1C1B is also populated with a microprocessor and 1 40-pin connector on the surface of the board. The board is populated with 1 amber indicator LED and standoffs. The board is also populated with 3 sockets for electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) modules and 25 jumpers.

The microprocessor manages the control signals in the board. The microprocessor must be used in a clean and dust free environment. The dust can interfere with the connections between the microprocessor and the socket on which it is installed. Some steps must be taken ensure that the installation is free of dust, dirt, oil, and grease. Make sure the other equipment in the area is clean doesn’t generate dust and other contaminants. If the dust and other contaminants are a problem, you can install ventilation hoods to clear the air of dust and dirt. The dirty air is removed by fans from the room.
