The GE Gas Turbine Daughter Board DS3800HCMC features a modular connector for attachment to a drive and retention levers to hold the board in the drive. The GE Gas Turbine Daughter Board DS3800HCMC also is populated with 14 jumpers, and 1 amber and 2 red indicator LEDs. The board also has 2 34-pin connectors, and multiple capacitors and resistors.

The GE Gas Turbine Daughter Board DS3800HCMC also has erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) modules embedded on it. The module stores the firmware and machine readable code that are the processing instructions the drive uses. If an update to the code is available, it can be downloaded by a laptop or other device. The modules reside on a socket that is embedded on the board. The modules can be removed from the socket. Insert a bladed instrument between the socket and the module. Work the blade back and forth to pry off the module. The module are damaged by any amount of static that enters the module. That is, the contents of the modules can be damaged and made unusable. To prevent that, immediately place the modules in a static protective bag. It is also best to wear a wrist strap while working with the modules. Keep the modules in the bag until you are ready to install them in a socket. Press the module into the socket when you are ready to install it.

Before you work with the modules, place the board on a static protective surface. This might be a protective work surface on a workbench or on top of a static protective bag.
