The DS3800HLIC1C1A is designed as part of the Mark IV control system from GE. This Speedtronic system offers industrial gas and steam turbine control.  It is one of several turbine control systems available from the company under the Speedtronic name.  The Mark IV was the first of these systems to offer distributed control. 

The DS3800HLIC1C1A  functions within the Mark IV as an Isolation Logic Board.  This is one of the multiple versions of this board available for the Mark IV.  Hardware for the Mark IV is designed to for hot-swaps, or for change-outs with the system running and without affecting turbine efficiency.  Because of this, the board is fitted with a backplane connector that easily plugs and unplugs into the rack system as well as extractor clips to allow for fast board removal and insertion.  

The DS3800HLIC1C1A is designed with board stiffeners running both directions on the board surface.  These remove or limit any flexibility in the board that might damage or loosen mounted components.  Other board components include integrated circuits (ICs) resistors, capacitors, as well as transistors.  The front edge has a single toggle switch mounted to it, and nearby there is a line of LED indicators.  These indicators are either red or yellow.   Most components have been labeled, and the board is marked with the GE logo and with its board ID number.
