About the DS3800HLNA
The DS3800HLNA is a Network Controller designed as part of the Mark IV Speedtronic system. The Mark IV is a distributed control system manufactured and originally distributed by General Electric for the control of industrial gas and steam turbine systems. This system uses three controller boards to vote on data before it can be used for outputs.
Controllers like the DS3800HLNA use ribbon cable connectors or harnessed cable connectors to communicate with other board components. A ribbon cable is typically inserted into the JA connector on the front of the card Near this connector the board edge has three red LED indicators and a yellow LED indicator. To either side, there are extractor clips.
The DS3800HLNA is populated by a number of different integrated circuits, resistors, and resistor network arrays. The board also includes capacitors and diodes and has a number of test points and jumper switches. You should make a note of the jumper settings on your old board so you can duplicate these on your replacement board. This will ensure all settings are correct. Most components are marked with a reference designator or marked with GE wiring symbology. The board carries the GE logo and has several codes marked along its edges. Additional information regarding proper installation or maintenance can be found through GE manuals and user guides.
