About the DS3800HPRB1B1B
The GE Pulse Rate Input Board DS3800HPRB1B1B is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Pulse Rate Input Board DS3800HPRB1B1B also is populated with 12 jumpers and 1 trimmer resistor. The board also is populated with 1 programmable interrupt controller, multiple programmable interval timer devices, and multiple capacitors.
The capacitors are embedded on the board. They store high-voltage electricity during normal processing. When called upon, they release the stored electricity and they perform the cycle of storing and releasing electricity multiple times during normal processing. This activity requires no user intervention and it cannot be configured or changed. It is not a concern to the operator or servicer until power is removed from the drive in preparation for removing the board. If the board is touched immediately after power is removed from the drive, a serious risk of electric shock exists. This is because the capacitors might have stored electric current that is released when the board is touched.
There is a quick resolution to the problem of the capacitors storing electric power. Wait 30 seconds after power is removed from the drive before touching the components. This gives the electricity time to exit the components. They are safe to touch after that amount of time. Full-featured testing equipment can be used to test for electricity if you are unsure if power exists in the board. The equipment must be fully calibrated for testing for the presence of electric power.
