About the DS3800HUMB
The GE Universal Memory Board DS3800HUMB is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Universal Memory Board DS3800HUMB also is populated with 1 reset toggle switch and 1 red indicator LED. The board is also populated with multiple erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) modules and 30 jumpers.
The functional areas of the GE Universal Memory Board DS3800HUMB is broken down into 4 divisions. The divisions are referred as quads. Quad A, Quad B, Quad C, and Quad D are the IDs of the divisions. Each division also is populated with a set of jumpers that configure the processing of the quad. Each quad also is populated with single-pin connectors.
Quad D has 4 EPROM module sockets. The sockets are designed to make the installation of a module easy to perform. The modules must be stored in a static-protective bag before use. The modules are easily damaged by static. The static can interfere with the code stored on the modules and make the code unreadable by the components on the board. Before you remove the module from the bag, wear a wrist strap. 1 end of the wrist strap is attached to your wrist. The other end is clipped to a metal object near the workspace. This can be a chair leg, a work table, or a workbench. The metal object serves as a ground and the static seeks it out and drains from the module or your person. This make the module safe to touch.
