About the DS3800HXPA
The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA also is populated with 3 40-pin connectors between the retention levers. The board is also populated with multiple electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) modules and 1 amber indicator LED.
The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA is populated with 8 EEPROM modules. The modules are inserted in sockets. The sockets are embedded on the board. This means the modules can be removed without changing the surface of the board. Removing the modules is necessary when you replace the board. There are situations when the board cannot be repaired or it is more economical to replace the board and resume drive operations. It might also happen that components cannot be replaced.
Installing a new board does not result in changes to the drive operations. The replacement will operate exactly the same as the original board. This is because the firmware and code stored on the first board can be used on the new board. The new board comes with the module sockets empty and you can easily move the same modules to the new board. Special tools are not required. Insert a screwdriver between the module and the socket. Gently pry off the module and repeat the action on the other side of the socket. Protect the module from static by wearing a wrist strap. Store the modules in a safe place.
