Product Description

The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1B1A is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1B1A also is populated with 3 40-pin connectors between the retention levers. The board is also populated with multiple electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) modules and 1 amber indicator LED.

When the original board is assembled at the factory it is sent with fully functional modules. The modules are loaded with the latest firmware and instruction code. The code provides the programming to control processing and other functions. The board and the code are designed to provide reliable and accurate processing operations. However, code development continues as the drive remain in service. Problems are reported and the code fixes to resolve the issues are developed. Also, improvements are made to the code to improve reliability and functionality. It is best practice to load the latest code on the modules.

The modules can be erased and reloaded with new code while the modules remain in the module sockets. The function is performed electronically. There is no requirement to remove and replace the modules. This can reduce the time the drive is offline and unproductive.

The amber LED is visible to the operator while the drive is in normal operations. When power is first applied to the board, the board performs some start up tests and if the tests are passed, the amber LED is on.
