About the DS3800HXPA1D1D
The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1D1D is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1D1D also is populated with 3 40-pin connectors between the retention levers. The board is also populated with multiple electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) modules and 1 amber indicator LED.
The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1D1D is designed to provide additional memory to other boards in the drive. Some of the memory is provided by the EEPROM modules. The memory is used to store code used to control the microprocessors and transistor-to-transistor components on other boards. The installer can insert the appropriate modules into the module sockets to control the components. Once inserted the technician can install the board in the rack. Then apply power to the drive. The drive will read the code from the modules to control the processing.
When you install the modules, special consideration must be given to protecting the board from static electricity. The technician must always have on hand and use a wrist strap. This protects the components from static damage. The static drains from the person to the grounded surface on the other end of the wrist strap. A metal surface can be an appropriate grounded surface. For example, a metal desk leg, a workbench, or a metal shelf in a work area. A clip is used to connect the strap to the metal surface. Some straps use a purpose-built plug with a receptacle on a metal surface.
