The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1E1D is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1E1D also is populated with 3 40-pin connectors between the retention levers. The board is also populated with multiple electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) modules and 1 amber indicator LED.

The 3 40-pin connectors enable the installer to attach 40-pin ribbon cables to the GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1E1D. When you route the cables take care that you do not block the cooling air from entering the drive from the bottom air vents or exiting the drive through the top air vents. It is best practice to route the cables along the interior wall of the drive. Then, route the cables to the destination connector.

One connector is equipped to use retention knobs that secure the ribbon cable connector against the board connector. To install the ribbon cable connector, press the retention knobs into the matching holes in the connector and screw them into place.

The amber indicator LED is located near 1 of the retention levers that secure the board in the rack. When you apply electrical power to the board, the LED is lit for 3 seconds. This indicates to the technician or operator that the LED is functional and can light when necessary. The LED turns off while the board conducts startup functional tests. The LED lights again to show power is on and the board can function as designed.
