The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1F1H is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1F1H also is populated with 3 40-pin connectors between the retention levers. The board is also populated with multiple electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) modules and 1 amber indicator LED.
The GE Memory Expander Board DS3800HXPA1F1H provides additional memory for normal processing activity. Through the control signals, the memory is accessed by the microprocessors and other logic devices in the drive. The signals are carried through the modular connectors. One modular connector is located on the board opposite from the retention levers. The drive is equipped with another modular connector at the end of the board rack. When you install the board, the modular connectors are mated. Use your thumbs to press the modular connectors together. The retention levers secure the connection.
Other signals are carried through ribbon cables attached to the 40-pin connectors between the retention levers. One 40-pin connector is equipped to accept ribbon cables with captive retention screws. To use the captive retention screws, press the ribbon cable connector into the connector on the board. Use your hand or a screwdriver to secure the retention screws.
When you complete the connection, route the ribbon cables carefully. Keep the ribbon cables away from power cables. The power cables can emit interference that will make the signal unreadable by the microprocessors and other components. Instead, route the power cables out of the drive, when possible.
