About the DS3800HXPD
The GE Microprocessor Expander Board DS3800HXPD is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Microprocessor Expander Board DS3800HXPD also is populated with 2 34-pin connectors between the retention levers. The board is also populated with 8 sockets for electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) modules and 18 jumpers.
The GE Microprocessor Expander Board DS3800HXPD enables technicians to add microprocessing power to the drive. It adds firmware and programming code to be used by microprocessors in the drive. The board is not populated with microprocessors. It is populated with the EEPROM modules that store the code.
It is also populated with connectors for ribbon cables. The connectors have retention latches that secure the ribbon cables. When you install the ribbon cables, make sure you leave plenty of slack so that the connections between the connector and the ribbon cable is not stressed. That is, the fine wires are not pulled out of the connector at the end of the ribbon cable.
If that happens, you will lose the control signal. Some control signals are received by the board. Others are transmitted to the board from other boards in the drive.
To use the retention latches, plug the ribbon cable into the connector. Then, swing 1 latch over the connector until it clicks into place. Swing the other latch until it clicks into place. Route the ribbon cables away from power cables in the drive. Route the power cables so they exit the drive.
