About the DS3800HXPD1C1E
The GE Microprocessor Expander Board DS3800HXPD1C1E is designed for quick installation in the drive. The board features a modular connector on 1 end and retention levers on the other end. The GE Microprocessor Expander Board DS3800HXPD1C1E also is populated with 2 34-pin connectors between the retention levers. The board is also populated with 8 sockets for electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) modules and 18 jumpers.
The replacement GE Microprocessor Expander Board DS3800HXPD1C1E comes without EEPROM modules installed in the sockets. The modules on the defective board have the firmware and software code that the drive uses to control and direct the processing. For that reason, it is best practice to remove the modules from the old board and install them on the replacement board. The module sockets are designed to make module removal and installation quick and easy. Be sure to remove and replace the module one at a time and install them on the right socket on the new board. Use 1 finger or a screwdriver to pry the modules from the socket on the defective board. Use your thumb to press them into the socket on the new board.
Once the modules are installed and the drive is operating properly, you have the option of updating the code. As fixes are developed for known issues with the code and improvements are developed, new version of the code are released. Review the notes on the latest version and update the code if you find benefit in the newest code version.
