About the DS3800NADC1C1A

The DS3800NADC1C1A is a PCB from GE designed to be used as an analog input circuit card within a Mark IV system. The Mark IV is designed for steam and gas turbine control management. The Mark IV can be used to automate almost all aspects of a turbine system.

The DS3800NADC1C1A is built with factory drilled holes in each corner. It is marked (A through J) for alignment on one edge. Extractor clips have been attached to two corners. These allow a technician to insert or extract the PCB without touching circuitry. It also allows for easier placement in tight locations.

The DS3800NADC1C1A has four test points placed along one edge. These are individually labeled. One terminal block has been placed near the upper right part of the board. A male connector populates the entire left edge of the board. This allows the DS3800NADC1C1A to communicate with other PCBs.

Two trim potentiometers are placed along the right edge, side by side. These are used for external adjustment of zero or offset and gain for the DATEL A/D converter. Multiple resistors populate the board, typically of ceramic covered metal film. The board has 33 integrated circuits, including a DATEL A/D converter, which has 5 input voltage ranges and 12-bit resolution. It includes a clock, a monolithic 12-bit successive approx. register and a monolithic buffer amplifier. Nonlinearity is specified at +/- 1/2 LSB maximum.

Installation guidelines for the DS3800NADC1C1A were originally published in technical publications such as data sheets and manuals. These were provided by GE. Only qualified electrical technicians should install or maintain this or other Mark IV equipment.
