About the DS3800NEPA
The DS3800NEPA is a motor exciter power supply designed as part of the Speedtronic Mark IV system. The Mark IV, which was designed for gas and steam turbine control, relies on integrated chipsets built with intentional redundancies to minimize downtime caused by electronics failure.
The DS3800NEPA is a larger board with modules that create bulk vertically. The specs of this board are as follows:
-
has one thermistor, or thermal resistor, located toward the right side of the board. A thermistor loses resistance as it heats; they are used for measurement and control.
-
has four potentiometers populating the board.
-
has one jumper switch. This can be set to "rev" or "nr."
-
has four integrated circuits.
-
has a multi-pin connector placed in the upper left corner of the board. This is a terminal connector.
-
Is factory drilled at multiple points around the board. This is for mounting options for the board as well as for mounting options for larger modules.
-
has two straight pin connectors placed parallel to the left side of the board. The first of these has six pins in a 2-2-2 configuration. The second has seven pins in a 2-1-1-3 configuration.
-
has nine large (orange) capacitors. Also has nine larger metal film resistors with orange, white and gold bands. There are other smaller resistors and capacitors also populating the board.
-
Includes two Raycom 44B379508-G02 modules.
-
is marked for alignment on both the top and the left edge of the board.
Datasheets and manuals for the DS3800NEPA were provided by GE. Installation instructions may be found within these publications, and are the best resource for technical support.
