About the DS3800NEPA1D1B
The DS3800NEPA1D1B from GE is a motor exciter board manufactured as part of the Mark IV Speedtronic series. The Mark IV, created for steam and gas turbine control management, is also useful in the sequencing of turbines and auxiliaries for automated startup, cool down and shut down procedures. The Mark IV can also be used to protect the turbine system against unsafe operating conditions.
The DS3800NEPA1D1B is a vertically heavy board, due to the connection of two modules from Raycom Electronics (44B379508-G02,) which are placed together near the middle of the PCB. The DS3800NEPA1D1B also uses these components:
-
-one jumper switch that can be set to REV or NR.
-
-four integrated circuits, which are primarily located toward the right side of the board.
-
-multiple resistors, including nine larger resistors with orange/white/gold banding, and two large black resistors.
-
-multiple capacitors, including nine larger capacitors.
-
-three straight-pin connectors (male.) Two are located on the left edge of the board. One is a 6-pin connector with a 2-2-2 pattern and one is a 7 pin connector with a 2-1-1-3 pattern. The last connector is positioned middle-right, is 8-pin and has a 4-2-2 pattern.
-
-four rotary potentiometers.
-
-one thermal resistor or thermistor. As thermal resistors gain heat they lose resistance, which makes them helpful in voltage regulation and circuit protection.
Technical support issues such as installation guidelines and maintenance schedules may be found in datasheets and manuals specifying the DS3800NEPA1D1B. These were provided by GE. Qualified electrical personnel should be responsible for all maintenance for Mark IV modules.
