The DS3800NHVE1C1A is a PCB designed to function as a high volt card for the Mark IV series. This series, which was created for gas/steam turbine control, has features that allow for efficient management, such as the automation of basic procedures (cooldown/startup/shutdown,) as well as the monitoring of air, fuel or water emissions. The Mark IV is designed on integrated chipsets built with intentional redundancies that help minimize downtime within the entire system.

Tending to be vertically heavy due to its six Bicron transformers (218A4886 P1,) the DS3800NHVE1C1A clusters components inside the two lines of transformers. This includes the board's six light emitting diodes (LEDs,) twelve of its carbon composite resistors (banded with yellow, purple, black and gold,) six polyester film capacitors rated 100V, as well as several smaller resistors and diodes.

The DS3800NHVE1C1A has two 218A4807P4 male connectors located along its left edge. It has eleven header connectors, including five 2-pin 4 position headers and six 3-pin 8 position headers. The board also has five jumper switches and six connection points.

Two edges on the board are alignment marked (numbered or lettered,) and each corner has been factory drilled for mounting. The center of the board has been factory-drilled. All components on the board are marked.
