About the DS3800NMEA1D1G
The DS3800NMEA1D1G from General Electric (GE) functions as a motor excitation board for the Mark IV Speedtronic system. The Mark IV was the first of the Speedtronic systems offering a triple modular redundant architecture, which significantly increased reliability and significantly decreased downtime in the associated gas and steam turbine systems. With this architecture in place, the turbine continued to run using available sections if one of the controllers failed. Because of this fault tolerance, fewer overall failures were noted in associated turbine systems.
The DS3800NMEA1D1G is a larger board that weighs over 1.00 pounds before it is readied for shipment by our inventory team. The board is heavily configured with mounted components primarily using through-hole (TH) mounting. Components include over 30 integrated circuits, diodes, resistors, Augat connectors, capacitors, and potentiometers. The right-hand edge of the board is taken up by right-angled cable and pin connectors. Most components are marked with their original manufacturer part number as well as having a reference designator printed nearby on the board’s surface. This should make identifying each component simple.
The DS3800NMEA1D1G is a single board component. However, it is designed with standoffs already inserted into its surface to allow for the addition of auxiliary boards. For more information on these auxiliary units, or for information regarding proper handling or installation of the DS3800NMEA1D1G board, please refer to original documentation from General Electric. This includes GE manuals, user guides, and data sheets.
