Product Description

The DS3800NMEA1N1J is part of the Mark IV Speedtronic series from General Electric.  The Mark IV was one of the first of these turbine control systems to increase reliability through a more complicated, fault-tolerant architecture using multiple microprocessor controllers voting on control decisions.   The Mark IV was considered a major forward step in industrial control design, offering modularized hardware using a basic control panel that could be used for a wide variety of turbine types and applications.  

The DS3800NMEA1N1J functions within the Mark IV system as a motor excitation card.  Excitation systems are used to provide continuous DC current to the unit’s field winding using feedback control or closed-loop control.   This keeps the turbine spinning. 

The DS3800NMEA1N1J board is designed with a large number of components mounted to its surface.  Components include right-angled connectors along the right-hand board edge, transistors, and integrated circuits.  This includes EEPROMs and EPROMs.   The board also has capacitors, resistors, two potentiometers, two Augat connectors,  and several standoffs pre-mounted to the board’s surface.  Standoffs allow auxiliary (daughter) boards to be installed later on if the user requires them.   It is worthwhile to note that this purchase only includes the primary NMEA board and does not include any sort of auxiliary.
