The DS3800NMEA1P1K circuit board functions as a motor exciter card within General Electric’s Mark IV Speedtronic turbine control system.  The Mark IV was a big step forward in reliability for GE’s turbine control systems.  It used multiple microprocessor-based controllers working together to vote on turbine control decisions.  This triple modular redundant architecture was achieved while maintaining a reasonable cost and a system that could be changed and modified around a basic control panel to meet the needs of different turbine configurations. 

Keep in mind our company maintains multiple versions of the NMEA board.  Each of these versions has slight variations.  Best practices suggest you should only order a board that exactly matches the board you are replacing to ensure compatibility.   

The DS3800NMEA1P1K functions as a motor exciter board.  The board is responsible for helping the turbine system generate a magnetic field that will keep the turbine spinning properly. 

This board is built with many components mounted to its surface.  This includes integrated circuits, three potentiometers, two Augat connectors, four right-angled connectors (all located along the right edge), TP test points, capacitors, transistors, resistors, and diodes.   The board has several standoffs previously mounted so users can add auxiliary boards at a later date if they so desire.  Auxiliary boards are not included with the purchase of the DS3800NMEA1P1K board.
