Product Description

The DS3800NMEC1E1E was manufactured by GE as a motor exciter control board for the Mark IV series. This series, which was designed for the management of steam/gas turbines, has triple-redundancies built in on all critical parameters to maintain the system even when one PCB experiences an electronics issue, consequently minimizing downtime.  The Mark IV also gives the user the option of automating certain standard procedures like cool-down.

The  DS3800NMEC1E1E has several nylon spacers located along the edges of the board.  These spacers help maintain a gap between the DS3800NMEC1E1E and other boards that may be attached to it.  The DS3800NMEC1E1E has six communication connectors, including two that are located near the center of the board, marked DA and DB; these are vertical pin male connectors.  There are also three right angled connectors (marked JH, JA, and JE) located on the right edge. All three of these connectors are 218A4637P2 connectors. The last connector is a right-angled six pin header.  This is also located on the right edge.

The  DS3800NMEC1E1E has ten transistors, one potentiometer, seventeen test points, and two jumpers. Jumper switches are designed to allow the end user some flexibility in how the PCB is used, as they finish off different circuits depending on how they are placed on the board.  The first jumper on DS3800NMEC1E1E may be set to IN or to OUT. The second may be set to J32 or to J33.

The  DS3800NMEC1E1E has many circuits attached to the board, including oscillators, operational amplifiers, quad 2-input NAND buffers, and quad voltage comparators.
