About the DS3800NMEC1F1C
The DS3800NMEC1F1C from GE is a motor exciter board for their Mark IV series. This series, which was created for steam/gas turbine management, has triple-redundant backups on all critical parameters in the system, which helps minimize downtime even if one PCB experiences an electronics issue. The Mark IV can also be used to monitor emissions from fuel, water, and air.
The DS3800NMEC1F1C has six communications connectors built into the board. These include three right-angled connectors (marked JH, JA, and JE,) and two vertical connectors (DA and DB.) There is also one right-angled header. The right-angled connectors, which are all marked 218A4637P2, are located on the right edge. The vertical connectors, which are multipin male connectors, are located toward the center. The board also has a number of vertical nylon spacers attached to support auxiliary/companion boards.
The DS3800NMEC1F1C is built with seventeen test points, two jumper switches, one potentiometer, and ten transistors. The jumper switches allow the user flexibility in how the board is used since they open and close different circuits depending on where they are placed. One jumper on the board may be set either to IN or OUT. The other may be set to J32 or J33.
The DS3800NMEC1F1C has multiple circuits on the board, including a 6.000 MHz crystal oscillator, triple 3-input positive-NAND gates with an operational temperature range of -55 degrees Celsius to 125 degrees Celsius, and quad voltage comparators that operate from either single or dual supplies.
All technical support for the DS3800NMEC1F1C, including publications such as manuals, was provided by General Electric.
