About the DS3800NTBE
The DS3800NTBE is a thermocouple card designed to fit into the Mark IV system. The Mark IV is designed for gas and steam turbine management.
The Mark IV system is designed with triple redundant backups on all parameters and critical controls. Thermocouples are distributed throughout the Mark IV system. For example, thirteen exhaust thermocouples are distributed through the <RST> system: 4 to R, 5 to S, 4 to T. Each of these calculates the median value and sends it back to the <RST,> which means under regular working conditions the turbine is controlled by thirteen thermocouples. It is important to the end user that all of these cards are in good working order, as individual deviations (bad readings) from one card may result in a bias of a few degrees that results in a significant loss of output.
The DS3800NTBE is alignment marked and has two PCB mating connectors located along one edge. These are vertical pin mating connectors marked JA and JB. Both are 28-pin connectors.
The DS3800NTBE has 48 capacitors populating the board. There are no resistors or diodes populating this board. The board has been drilled multiple times both along its edge and through the center area of the board, but always away from the waffle pattern imprinted on the top layer. The four large thermocouple components located parallel to the short dimension of the board are individually identified as TBA, TBB, TBC and TBD.
All technical support for the DS3800NTBE was the responsibility of GE. This includes publications like manuals and data sheets.
