Product Description

The DS3800NTBL is a PCB from GE manufactured for the Mark IV series.  This series was created for gas or steam turbine management. It is created with integrated chipsets that have two-out-of-three voting redundancies on all parameters and critical controls.  These help diminish downtime caused by electronics failure. The Mark IV can be used to automate some procedures like start-up and shutdown.

The DS3800NTBL is designed as a bus terminator card.   Bus terminators are used to provide a termination resistor network for passive AT-Bus backplanes that don’t already have termination networks installed.  Termination can improve signal quality and prevent reflections that may cause communication failure as a result of oscillation. Reflections and standing waves can prevent proper operation of cards and even prevent operation of the computer.  

The DS3800NTBL is a small auxiliary card.  It is built around two PCB mating connectors. One is labeled JA.  This connector is a vertical pin male connector with 26 pins. The second connector is also a vertical pin male connector.  The JB connector has twenty pins.

The DS3800NTBL is marked with codes “6BA00” and “6DA00.”  it is drilled at all four corners. The board has been marked with the GE symbol.  The top of the board is marked with two arrows and “0-TRUE.” The middle of the board is marked with two arrows and “1-true.”

The DS3800NTBL has locations marked for 23 resistors.  The board is populated with twenty metal film resistors.  It is important to note that R12, R22, and R23 are marked on the board but do not have components at those positions.  These locations are labeled DAK, FSR, and ASR respectively.
