About the DS3800NVCD1A1B
The DS3800NVCD1A1B Conditioning card is a board component from General Electric. This replacement part is designed to fit into the Mark IV Speedtronic control system, which was the first Speedtronic system from General Electric to use microprocessors to manage both gas and steam turbine systems. The Mark IV was also a design breakthrough in that it introduced the use of triple modular redundant controllers. This type of design helped reduce downtime in the turbine systems using it, and significantly increased reliability. This occurred because the Mark IV design allowed a fault in any one of its three controllers. A single fault did not affect the running of the entire system as it used two-out-of-three voting; as long as two systems remained active, the system would continue to operate.
The DS3800NVCD1A1B board is a small rectangular board without an attached front faceplate. The board has extractor clips to help with insertion and removal. It also has two connectors to help the board communicate with other components. This includes a backplane that “plugs” it into the rack system and a right-angled connector at the front center of the board.
Most components on this board are through-hole mounted. The exception to this is the two larger transistors located on one long board side. These components are screwed to the board and use surface wiring. Additionally, they are mounted in heat sinks to help dissipate the extra heat.
General Electric datasheets, user guides, and manuals including Mark IV manuals will give you additional information about this module.
