About the DS3800XTES

The DS3800XTES board component is part of GE’s Mark IV turbine control system.   While earlier systems like the Mark I and Mark II were used widely and are, in fact, still in use today, the Mark IV system offered real and significant improvements over these earlier systems through its unique (at the time) triple modular redundant control design system.  This system significantly improved the Mark IV’s reliability as compared to earlier Speedtronic systems. 

The DS3800XTES is a smaller board component with only a few mounted components.  Two of the board edges are marked at equidistant points along their distances to help with alignment and positioning.  The front board edge is factory drilled five times; three of these holes are ringed with conductive material. 

Inside the body of the DS3800XTES, components line up in neat rows.  This includes three amber LEDs interspersed with smaller components.  The board also carries resistors, capacitors, and diodes.  These are wire-mounted to the board and vary in size.  Additionally, the board has three vertical plug connectors.  One is located on the right side of the board while the other two are grouped together on the left board edge. 

The DS3800XTES is marked with the GE logo and also carries the board ID number.  Other codes are located along board edges to help with placement and wiring.
