About the DS3815PDPA
The DS3815PDPA is a PCB from GE for the Mark IV series. The Mark IV is used for the management of gas and steam turbine systems and is built to monitor the turbine’s power supply, speed, and temperature. It also automates startup, control sequencing, and shutdown procedures. The MKIV has a significantly lower turbine outage rate compared to older GE Speedtronic systems like the MKI and MKII.
The DS3815PDPA is a larger PCB with many components. It is supported by two heavy-duty board stiffeners placed across the long dimension of the board. Board stiffeners offer mechanical support to the board and constrain bend areas. Each of these board stiffeners is connected to the board in three places. The board is drilled in each corner and has nylon extractor clips inserted in two corners.
The DS3815PDPA has one amber LED placed on one edge. This LED is marked “IMOK.” The board has two LED strips of four red LEDs each. There are ten TP points and one set of spare PTH on the board.
The DS3815PDPA has four connectors for communicating with other PCBs. This includes two 218A4553-1 AMP 553002-1 connectors, one 278A3465 connector with screw mounts on either side of the pins, and one 34-pin vertical male pin connector. This last is located near four nylon vertical spacers, which are attached to the board to support an optional auxiliary board. Two board-to-board pins are located nearby to lock this optional auxiliary board into place if it is installed.
The DS3815PDPA is built with six resistor network arrays, twelve jumper switches, and over eighty circuits. All technical support for this part--including publications like manuals and datasheets--was provided by GE.
