About the DS3815PDPA1B1A
The DS3815PDPA1B1A is a PCB made by GE for the MKIV series. The Mark IV is GE’s gas/steam turbine management system that is built on integrated microcomputers. These microcomputers continuously monitor the turbine system for issues such as loss of flame, over speed, high pressure, fire, and over temperature. All protection parameters and critical controls are monitored by three individual computer systems that work on a two-out-of-three voting system. In this way, the MKIV limits GT outage and improves the reliability of the entire system [as compared to previous Speedtronic systems.]
Twelve jumpers, six resistor network arrays, and over eighty integrated circuits populate the DS3815PDPA1B1A. This includes CMOS SRAM chips with low power dissipation and low data retention voltage, octal d-type transparent latches with buffered control inputs and 3-state bus-driving outputs, and hex Schmitt-trigger inverters with high noise immunity and improved line-receiving characteristics.
The DS3815PDPA1B1A is a larger board with many components. Because it is a larger board, two board stiffeners are installed on the long dimension of the PCB and are attached at three points each. Board stiffeners give mechanical support to the board and limit the chance of bending or cracking. The PCB has nylon extractor clips added to two corners.
The DS3815PDPA1B1A has one amber LED that is marked IMOK. It also has two LED strips comprised of four red LEDs each. The board has four communication connectors, including one 278A3465 connector with two screw mounts, two identical 218A4553-1 right-angled connectors, and one vertical male 34-pin connector. This final connector is placed toward the center of the board near two board-to-board pins that can hold an auxiliary board in place if it is installed.
The DS3815PDPA1B1A has ten TP test points and a set of spare PTH. All technical support for this part, including publications for the end user like manuals and datasheets, was originally provided by GE.
