About the DS3820FEXB
DS3820FEXB Excitation Power Board
The DS3820FEXB is a modified board from the Mark IV series from GE. Mark IV components are part of the Speedtronic series, which was produced and distributed by GE from the late 1960s through the turn of the century in various iterations. The Mark IV was the first of the series to offer TMR control. TMR control, otherwise known as triple modular redundant control, significantly reduced downtime caused by board/hardware failure. The DS3820FEXB circuit board is no longer offered by General Electric but can be purchased from AX Control as a reconditioned or liquidated new-used part.
The DS3820FEXB is a rectangular circuit board with multiple components that has a plexiglass shield mounted above its surface. This shield, which covers the entire surface of the board, is mounted a few millimeters above board components and held in place by several standoffs that are mounted to the board using screws. The shield protects components during daily use but can be removed when maintenance needs to be performed.
The DS3820FEXB is populated by multiple connectors, including right-angled pin header connectors, right-angled cable connectors, quick-connect screw mounts, and male and female board mating connectors. The board also includes components like five potentiometers, an amber LED indicator, seven transistors, and several integrated circuits. There are jumper switches, diodes, resistors, and capacitors. Capacitors are made from materials like ceramic, electrolytic material, and polyester vinyl. Resistors are metal film and wire-wound.
