About the DS3820HSMC
The DS3820HSMC is a PC board thyristor assembly fabricated for General Electric’s turbine series called Mark IV Speedtronic. This part has been discontinued by the OEM but is still available through AX Control. The DS3820HSMC has one red circular MOV (metal oxide varistor) that is located on one edge of the component. The DS3820HSMC also has an inductor component on its surface. It has several connection points for the wires on either side of a central ridge. The wires are then split up into a few different bundles with different colored wire wrapping. There are four bundles wrapped in white, and two bundles wrapped in red. The rest of the wires are thin, some are black and others are white and they go down into a small plastic wiring harness that clips into a circuit board.
The Mark IV has been used for the control of turbine systems for decades, including both gas and steam turbine systems. It offers triple modular redundant control.
