About the DS3820PSFD
DS3820PSFD GE Mark IV Power Supply
The DS3820PSFD is a Speedtronic Mark IV power supply, manufactured by General Electric. The Mark IV was the third of GE’s Speedtronic series for gas and steam turbine management. It was the first of these control systems to offer TMR (triple modular redundant) control with multiple backups on critical controls and protections parameters. The DS3820PSFD can be purchased from AX Control as reconditioned used or as a never-used liquidated surplus unit.
The DS3820PSFD is designed to take incoming AC/alternating current and to turn it into usable DC/direct current for downline components. This is a tall metal housing with both internal and external components mounted to the case. External components include a circuit board with eight female plugs that has been screw mounted to the top of one exterior surface. The DS3820PSFD has multiple internal circuit boards that are all notated with their particular board numbers. These boards are either screw mounted directly to the walls of the unit, or use standoffs and screw mounts to connect them to other components. Interior circuit boards include components like plug connectors, transistors, transformers, potentiometers, capacitors, resistors, heat sinks, rectifiers, and filters. Several sides of the case are completely or partially open to allow air flow that will keep internal parts at a stable working temperature.
