About the DS3820PSFE1B
DS3820PSFE1B GE Mark IV Power Supply
The DS3820PSFE1B is a power supply module designed for use within a Speedtronic Mark IV system from GE. The Mark IV, which was created as a gas and steam turbine control system, was the third of the popular Speedtronic systems to be released by General Electric. It was the first of these systems to offer a TMR design. TMR, or triple modular redundancy, allows for multiple backups on critical controls and protection parameters, which significantly reduces downtime caused by equipment issues.
The DS3820PSFE1B is an L-shaped power supply that is designed with a narrow tower portion settled on a wider base section. This base section is open to the top and includes a transformer and high-voltage electrolytic capacitors mounted directly to the interior of the metal housing. The unit has both interior and exterior circuit board components, which utilize plugs and surface wiring to communicate. The exterior-mounted circuit board that is located high on one exterior side is populated by eight female plugs. This side also has two round openings to allow for cables to pass from the interior to the exterior of the unit.
