About the DS3820PSFF
The DS3820PSFF is an AC Input Module for GE’s Mark IV series. The MKIV was introduced in 1982 and was designed to replace the MKI and MKII as GE’s primary Speedtronic system for gas and steam turbine management. The MKIV is built on integrated platforms run by microprocessor, which continuously monitor the turbine for issues like vibration, high pressure, and fire, and automatically makes decisions on how to keep the turbine running optimally.
The DS3820PSFF is built around several DS3800 boards, including a DS3800NPSP board, with components added. The AC Input Module has an exterior metal housing made up of several parts. These are connected together using metal screws. The housing has openings on the bottom, top, and on two sides. This gives technicians access to the components inside the housing, and also allows for heat dissipation. Three components are mounted on the top of the housing frame. This includes a four-pin female jack, a fuse, and a circuit breaker. The housing has several flanges top and bottom. These are drilled with screw mounts and have tab cut-outs, to allow for mounting of components and to allow the housing itself to be mounted securely to its final location.
The DS3820PSFF has one board mounted outside the frame. This board is populated with one six-pin header connector and eight 12-pin (three by four) female plugs. The identification number of this board is DS3800XTFP.
The DS3820PSFF is built with multiple interior boards. These boards include many components, including trim potentiometers, transformers, high current inductors, heat sinks, test points, toggle switches, male and female headers and PCB connectors, jumper switches, capacitors of various sizes and materials, including very large electrolytic through-hole capacitors, transistors, integrated circuits, LEDs, diodes, and resistors of various materials, including wire-wound, carbon composite, and ceramic covered metal film.
General Electric provided all technical support for the DS3820PSFF, including manuals and data sheets.
