About the DS3820PSLB1A
DS3820PSLB1A Mark IV Power Supply Module from GE
The DS3820PSLB1A is a Mark IV power supply module designed by GE for use in one of their earlier Speedtronic systems. GE began the popular Speedtronic line in the late 1960s and continued developing and improving it through the turn of the century. The Mark IV, which the DS3820PSLB1A is designed for, was the first of the Speedtronic systems to offer triple modular redundant control (TMR,) which significantly reduced downtime caused by part failure. The DS3820PSLB1A is no longer actively manufactured by General Electric. However, this module can be purchased from AX Control as a reconditioned unit or as never-used surplus from liquidated stock.
The DS3820PSLB1A is designed as a large external metal tower with a right-angled secondary part. The power supply takes incoming AC power and converts it into the DC power that is typically needed for downline modules. The unit also includes fuses, MOVs and other voltage regulating parts that protect connected modules from spikes and noise.
The DS3820PSLB1A has external components that are mounted to the outside of the metal casing and internal components mounted to its inside. External components include an on/off switch, terminal strips, a hinged panel with a cover, and an open panel with a mounted circuit board. This board has two potentiometers, a transformer, and eight female plug components. Internal components include multiple circuit board components that are populated by resistors, plug components, potentiometers, heat sinks, and transformers. Surface wiring is used to connect these various parts to each other.
