About the DS3860NPSM
DS3860NPSM Power Supply Card
The DS3860NPSM is a Power Supply Card used within the Speedtronic MKIV system. The MKIV was the first of GE’s Speedtronic systems to offer triple modular redundant (TMR) architecture that created multiple backups on all critical controls and protection parameters.
The DS3860NPSM is a small rectangular board with multiple components. This includes two bipolar transistors mounted in heat sinks, smaller transistors, inductor coils, high-voltage surface-mount capacitors, axially mounted electrolytic capacitors, fuses, and integrated circuits. The board also has polyester vinyl capacitors, diodes, jumper switches, resistors made from metal film and from carbon composite material, and TP test points. There are two LED indicators on the board (one red and one amber) to the right and left of a right-angled toggle switch. The board has two right-angled header connectors. There are also two components labeled CR1 and CR2 that have been mounted at right angles above the surface of the board, and connected to the surface using wired connections; these are a specific type of diode. The center of the board is taken up by a larger transformer that also uses surface wiring.
The DS3860NPSM is drilled at multiple points and is marked along two edges with letters or numbers for proper alignment. The board includes spare PTH to allow simple mounting of additional components. For a more detailed look at board components, please review data sheets or user guides from GE. The DS3860NPSM product manual will provide step-by-step information regarding installation and maintenance. These publications were provided with OEM purchases.
