About the DS3880TIMC
DS3880TIMC Circuit board Turbine Control
The DS3880TIMC is a circuit board component/module used with the Mark IV system. The Mark IV was the first of the Speedtronic systems to offer distributed fault tolerance (TMR control) with modular redundant backups on all critical controls and protection parameters. The system allowed for automatic and sequential startup and shutdown of turbine systems. The DS3880TIMC is no longer produced by GE but can be purchased from AX Control as a reconditioned unit.
The DS3880TIMC includes a rectangular circuit board with an overall grid pattern printed on the surface of the circuit board. The board has two lines of axially mounted capacitors lined up along opposite short edges of the board. The board also has a single vertical pin cable connector that is mounted to the center front edge. Next to this is a single potentiometer and two jumper switches. The board also has a transistor, a stab-on connector, diodes, and resistors. The center of the board is taken up by three large double-wide terminal strips. These are labeled TBA, TBB, and TBC. Each terminal strip has a vertical metal component mounted to its side.
The DS3880TIMC circuit board component is mounted within an external tray component using several screws. The tray surrounds the board on all sides with upward-extending sides. The front and back sides have a lower extending lip that is bracketed on either side by two right-angled flanges. These are drilled to allow for mounting of screws.
