Product Description
The GE Module Genius Controller DS215UCVBG1AB features one Ethernet connector, and multiple LED status indicators. The GE Module Genius Controller DS215UCVBG1AB is also populated with 2 blocks of configuration switches and a connector that enables the attachment to a hard disk drive.
The controller also features a set of terminal blocks that are identified as Genius A and Genius B. The terminal blocks are used to connect signal wires directly to the controller. The terminal blocks each has 3 individual terminals. When you first set up the controller for use in your site, use the installation instructions included with the controller to gain an understanding of the terminal blocks and the function of the individual terminals. When you are prepared to attach the signal wires, first strip about one half inch from the end of each signal wire. Insert the end into the terminal and open the terminal by loosening the retention screw. Insert the signal wire into the terminal with the bare copper inserted into the terminal and not exposed outside the terminal.
The hard disk drive that you connect to the controller can be a solid state drive (SSD) device. The SSD type drive has no move parts so is more reliable. It is also faster to read and write data. The SSD uses flash memory to store the information. HDD technology is slower and also subject to wearing out because it has moving parts. However, you might find that the HDD technology is less expensive but you have the option to use either type of drive.
