The IS215UCVEH2AAE works within the Mark VI control system.  It is a single-slot VME board.  The controller has two serial RS-232C ports and an Ethernet port along with other connectors for a keyboard or mouse and a monitor.   The board houses a high-speed processor along with flash memory and DRAM.   External data comes to this board via the VCMI communications board.   Depending on the type of system, data may come to the board via process I/O (simplex) or voted I/O (TMR.)   GE manual GEH-6421, Vol II will have additional details about this. 

There are many different versions of the UCV VME controller card.  This version--the UCVE board--is used to provide one to three PROFIBUS-DP masters.   This is a communication application based on ISO/OSI model layers one and two.    

Before replacing your UCVE controller, make sure you power down the rack and disconnect all cables from the front of the controller.    The old controller should be replaced by the new one.  Use the compact flash programmer to download the flash file system, and make sure to configure the controller’s TCP/IP address before re-initializing power.
