About the IC300FOX104
The IC300FOX104 was created by GE Fanuc as control station hardware for the SmartStack system. It is specifically classified as a Fiber Optic Extension System (FOX). This system has the capability to extend an Operator Control Station’s (OCS) backplane which allows up to 4 additional SmartStack modules to be mounted several meters away from the OCS. Depending on the OCS, up to 5 IC300FOX104s can be used together which will allow for up to 20 SmartStack I/O modules to be connected. This setup can handle up to a maximum of 3 cable drops to any specific hub/base and a cable length of 10 meters per drop.
The IC300FOX104 has a maximum power draw and primary power rating of 9-30 VDC @ 400 mA. This FOX is typically mounted permanently inside a panel box. You can mount it into place using 4 pan-head screws and external tooth lock washers. The IC300FOX104 is 108 mm high, 168.3 mm wide, and 119.4 mm deep. When you add the SmartStack I/O modules to the FOX, it will change the overall dimensions for the system. It should only be operated in a 5-95% humidity and temperatures between 0-50 degrees Celsius. It has UL ratings of Class 1, Groups A-D, and division 2.
The IC300FOX104 features a host fiber-optic connection port. It also has a series of LED indicator lights that are labeled fiber ok, run, and pwr. The fiber ok LED indicates that the fiberoptic input cable is working. The pwr LED glows when the FOX is receiving power. The run LED glows when the ladder code is running. It flashes when DO/IO mode is engaged or it is running without a ladder program.
