This model of the QuickPanel series from GE is one of their Junior category of touch screens. They are a thin, slim product, less than 3 inches wide. This line of graphic touch screen operators is a cost-effective, practical alternative to other discrete devices that come integrated with push buttons and actions/status lights. The setup of the screen, with a free form static and dynamic graphics can be added into the display. The additional graphics present even more information to operators, in just a single glance.
The QPJ-1D100-L2P model is a QuickPanel Junior unit, with a 4.7 inch viewing screen, with an image resolution of 320 sq. pixels in width, and then 240 sq. pixels in height. These models are capable of communicating with all of the major models of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and communication network systems. Those systems include ones like A/B Remote Input/Output, Data Highway Plus, Modicon Modbus Plus, DeviceNet, Profibus and General Electric Genius. Some of these networks require an optional, field installed module to successfully integrate into each other.
The dimensions that this QPJ model is designed with give it a width of 6.75 inches (172 millimeters), and a height of 5 inches (127 mm). The standard depth of this unit is 2.125 inches, or 54 mm. On the back frame of this unit is the set of three power terminals, and the download port and serial interface port. The frame is, as with all of these units, protected by a case that is rated with a NEMA grade of 4X/12, and an official rating of IP-65. This case is able to protect the model from any damage that may occur in the workplace, as well as any environmental hazards, such as invading dust particles, or any possible water damage.
