About the IC800VMMCONE001
The IC800VMMCONE001 is an Encoder Connector manufactured by GE Fanuc for the VersaMotion Series of drives and motors. This particular encoder connector can sustain 100W-750W. IC800VMMCONE001 connects the encoder to the servo motor and drive I/O within the system. The Encoder Connector is necessary for communication control after power has been applied to the servo motor, once the motor’s sensors detect the rotor position.
The IC800VMMCONE001 has 8 pins numbered from A1 through A8. Each of these pins corresponds to a particular phase output. However, A7 is responsible for supply the encoders 5V of power and A8 is responsible for grounding.
When installing the IC800VMMCONE001, ensure it is installed in a different wire tray than the power cables. By using separate conduits about 11.8 inches (or 30 centimeters) apart, the user avoids signal noise. It is advisable to wait 10 minutes after power has been shut off from the drive before installing the IC800VMMCONE001 encoder connector as there may still be voltage in the drive immediately after the power has been removed. By following this safety precaution, the user avoids harm from any remaining hazardous voltage.
When troubleshooting your Versa Motion servo motor, you should check the IC800VMMCONE001 encoder connector in response to a few errors. If you receive an ALE11 error, this is an Encoder Error Alarm. You must first check your encoder wiring. Incorrect wiring that does not follow the recommended wiring configuration can trip this error. Next, ensure the encoder connector cable is not damaged and that the cable connector is not loose. If the encoder itself is damaged, you must replace the motor. The user should also check the IC800VMMCONE001 encoder connector if the troubleshooting code ALE04 (Encoder Issue) is displayed.
