GE Fanuc Automation manufactures the VersaPoint PROFIBUS-DP Network Interface Unit, IC220PBI001. There are 5 of these units in each of the 5 remote cabinets in the control cabinet of the VersaPoint system. The sum of all input and output data can be up to 184 bytes per station. The NIU can be used at a baud rate of 9.6 kbps for Profibus-DP with a maximum total expansion of 1200m, or at a baud rate of 12 mbps with a maximum of 100m. The NIU automatically adjusts to the speed specified by the Profibus master.

Another feature of this model is adaptation of the high byte/low byte format in 16-channel input and output modules. An end plate comes with the Profibus NIU, but the power connector must be ordered separately. This module can be replaced directly by module IC220PBI002. The Profibus-DP Interface is a copper cable (RS-485), which is connected via a SUB-D shield connector. The supply is electrically isolated, and the shielding is directly connected with functional earth ground. The housing dimensions are 91 mm x 120 mm x 71.5 mm. This module does not include diagnostic capabilities, and it also does not support PCP of Acyclic communication.
